Open spaces – 2019

The first SENSE residency of the MABOS in 2019 is named Open SpacesAfter a careful selection by the Scientific Committee, presented on May 26, 2019, during the catalog presentation event, the artists arrived at the MABOS, Museum of Art of the Sila Forest, on June 28, 2019, for the first residency of 2019. These are four artists from different regions of Italy, including Veneto, Campania, and Calabria. Tiziano Bellomi, Gianluca Capozzi, Giovanni Fava ed Eleonora Picariello the selected artists. Their projects for the residency, in an unconscious way, expressed the research and recreation of places that become unnatural from natural and vice versa. Altered and contaminated visions, spaces that evoke security or disorientation, invisible boundaries meant to engage the senses. At the same time, they accompanied the artists' residency“Critical Diaries of MABOS”’, the residencies for young art historians. Thanks to an internship agreement with the Department of Humanities at the University of Calabria, each residency will feature a young art historian, selected by the Unical professor and a member of the scientific committee, Leonardo Passarelli. On this occasion, [the name of the selected historian] was chosen Vanessa Vasapollo who followed and studied the creative process of the artists throughout the residency. The residency concluded on Sunday, July 7, 2019, with a final event where the new works were presented in the museum of the forest.
